Smart Beginnings Central Virginia is a coalition that consists of community leaders from business and local government, school divisions, local agencies and organizations, professional affiliations, early childhood education providers, and private individuals whose focus is every child in Central Virginia enters kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. The coalition was founded in 2007 and covers the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell and the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg.
The focal points for the Coalition are:
- Virginia Star Quality Initiative
- Family Support
- Early Childhood Health
- Advocacy for Early Childhood Issues
