Smart Beginnings Alexandria/Arlington is a non-profit Initiative, funded in part by the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, representing the City of Alexandria and Arlington County that provides leadership to create and sustain a comprehensive early care and education system for Northern Virginia. The purpose of Smart Beginnings Alexandria/Arlington is to ensure that all children, prenatal to eight years and their families have access to the resources they need to achieve success in school and in life.
How you can get involved:- The Smart Beginnings Coalition is comprised of members who are elected annually to represent a specific organization or area of focus. The Coalition meets quarterly to strategically plan the objectives and activities of the Initiative.
- The Coalition Committees are open to all members of the public interested in furthering the agenda of the Initiative through specific projects, programs, or activities. Committees meet as needed.
- The Smart Beginnings Leadership Council guides the vision and accountability of the Initiative. The Council is comprised of civic, government, and business leaders – with the common goal of improving child outcomes in our region. They meet quarterly to focus on advocacy and resource development, as well as participate in opportunities statewide to build support for early childhood
